Using Paintbrush In Word Documents

To create a picture like the one above, you need to do two simple steps:

Select the object with the formatting you want to copy. Click the Format Painter icon. It may be located in a slightly different place, depending on your version of Office, but it always looks like a paintbrush. Select the object you want to apply the formatting to.

I. Create a shape with the brush effect. You will need firstto download any of the following free fonts (a lot of thanks to the creators!):

To create a shape with the brush effect, do the following:

1. Add any shape to the slide, for example, rectangle:

Use a paintbrush comb or small wire brush to clean the bristles. The younger Kate, in contrast, turned her own schoolgirl training with a paintbrush into a career. Emma sat at the edge of the forest with a pad of paper on her lap, a cup of water in the sand, a paintbrush in one hand and a plastic tray filled with colors in the other.

1.1. On the Insert tab, in the Illustrationsgroup, select Shapes:

1.2. In the Shapes list, from the Rectanglesgroup, select and add to the slide the Rectangle shape:

2. Add the letter from the font you have chosen in frontof the shape, for example:

3. Select the shape and the letter and then under DrawingTools, on the Format tab, in the Insert Shapes group, choose the MergeShapes dropdown list and then select Intersect:

You will see a new shape from the letter (see How to makemodern picture design in PowerPoint slide):

Note: If you want to use just a part of the letter, you need to insert a smaller rectangle.

4. Group these shapes, format them, and add pictures (see How to makemodern picture design in PowerPoint slide for more details).

Add any other adjustments you like.

If you're trying to copy the format of text to other text, you can use the Microsoft Format Painter option, shown in the pictures to the right. The top image is an example of Format Painter in Microsoft Word 2010, and the bottom picture shows this option in earlier versions of Word.

The Format Painter tool is on the Home tab of the Microsoft Word Ribbon. In older versions of Microsoft Word, Format Painter is located in the toolbar at the top of the program window, below the menu bar.

How to use Format Painter

Highlight the text containing the formatting you want to copy to other text.
Click the Format Painter tool in the Microsoft Word Ribbon or toolbar.
The mouse cursor changes to a paintbrush. Highlight the text you want to format like the text highlighted in step 1.

If, for example, you have created a heading in Microsoft Word that uses a formatting you like, you can apply that formatting to another section of text.
